Taste of Anglesey

I've long enjoyed Anglesey's fine  meat and cheese and chocolate.

Here's a  guide, both on line and in print, to the  Taste of Anglesey,  addresses where you can buy locally produced food,  also pubs and restauranats where you can order dishes made from local products

Culture shock?

Culture shock? A new posh shop has come to Porthaethwy!

Because the Co-op has merged with Somerfield in Llanfairpwll, Waitrose has come to Porthaethwy.

(Oops! I managed to insert a clickable link on a previous post, but this one doesn't seem to have worked.)

There's a cafeteria and two smart new loos (instead of the rather poor-DIY-looking one that was there before).
I haven't bought anything there yet.
On my first visit, they had run out of the newspaper I wanted, so my visit ended as soon as it had begun.
On my second visit, it was so busy that there was no chance of finding what I wanted and getting to a till in the time available - but I saw several delicacies that Tesco recently discontinued, and that I can't find anywhere else.

Two things that I didn't know:

Waitrose is the foodie aspect of John Lewis
Ocado is the delivery service for Waitrose goods

What's odd about the second is that everyoen has been saying that this is the only waitrose in North Wales - but I'm sure that I've seen an Ocado van in North Wales - so where would that have come from?

Snowdonia Sherpas

I know quite a few people who cancelled their North Wales holidays last year, when they heard about the  financial axing of Sherpa services - and went to Scotland instead.

I  make no personal claims for this website - which claims to be, although unofficial, the  "only website
to be regularly updated with all the mid-timetable corrections and service changes".

Anyway, it has some jolly good pictures of buses

And here's an Arriva bus running a summer Sherpa route from Llandudno to Pen Y Pass

Holyhead Newry Green

Holyhead Newry Green -  an attraction for residents and visitors, just as it is.
So do we really want 400 residential units, a hotel, leisure facilities, retail units, a new sailing club building, boat storage and maintenance facilities built here?

Hev yu go' a loight, boy?"

That was a song of my youth, alongside "Come Outside"

"Hev yu go' a blog, gal?"

That wasn't how they put it, but, following a very small success in print, people have been asking that - so here's a blog. I'm not sure yet what it's for - except that it might be a way of collecting the bits and pieces of journalling that litter my hard disc. We shall see.
